TIMETABLE FOR THE FAMILY

In this isolation each day can seem like a blur. Each day rolls into the next and at times it can be hard to get up and get motivated to make something of each day. I know for me at the start I was pumped to really make something of this time and was focused on getting ready to teach PE via remote learning and getting our Milestone FitLife business online. There was also trying to make Jordyn’s 7th birthday special and trying to replace the fun we should have been having on our vacation to Noosa. I was trying so hard to make this count. Then the news that I thought would happen but feared the most, that all of Term 2 would be as it is now. This is when I fell in a heap and had to stop and rest to reset. I could not keep this up at that point, I knew it was inevitable but it still came as a shock and I’m a trained teacher. It was time to make a plan that balanced life for our whole family and was sustainable!

I had been operating off a plan all holidays and it had been working a treat for the girls and be prior to my meltdown. So that’s what we have for now (timetable above). The girls and I negotiated it together and while we are not exactly sure how the Term is going to look, it feels good to have a general plan for now and something to focus on. For me the biggest this is movement and fresh air spread often throughout the day.

Another great thing has been putting markers on the clock for when we fuel our bodies. Throughout my life food has been a void and I don’t want this for my kids so adding structure just like at school has been very valuable or us. In this photo you’ll also see a list of things I love for me. It’s important to remember to do things we love each day. The girls also wrote a list of things they love too!

I guess the point I’m making is be kind to yourselves and get through it together. Remember what you all love to do and make it happen still. when we all find out what remote learning looks like embrace it but make it work for your situation and what works for you.

Finally know that our schools and kindergartens will be there for us and our children, to help us through and keep things as normal as possible. To keep them reaching their potential. Also we have a wonderful community who will get behind all of other families. So know that if you need help please reach out to someone. We are all in this together!

I'm a mother of 2 beautiful girls and live on a dairy farm with my hardworking husband in South Gippsland. I am a Primary School Teacher with a Major in Physical Education and also a Qualified Personal Trainer with a love of Learning, Health, Fitness and imparting all I know to strengthen the lives, bodies and minds of those around me. These passions and the hunt for a good balance between being a mother, contributing to my community and helping to support my family had me to exploring options and along came Kangatraining! Why Kangatraining when I already work as a personal trainer can be answered in 4 words 'safe for new mothers!' I have lots of mums coming to my mainstream classes but I was not educated enough on what is and is not safe and as much as we say our venue is kid friendly, activities are not structured with the children in mind! This is what I love about Kanga!
